Rebecca Last MA, BFA is a visual artist and designer who works from her Toronto studio and lake side studio. She began pursuing a serious painting career in the late 1980's and has developed a distinct approach to the historical and geographical based themes she works on. Her most current paintings, some of which are shown above, are reactions to the view from her lake studio.
Last has developed and taught studio painting, drawing and art history courses for many years at Sheridan College and has studied and taught credit courses in painting, drawing and lectured on Art History in Italy. Each year she takes semi-private groups of adult art enthusiasts to Florence and Siena, Italy to paint and/or explore Renaissance art and architecture.
In 1988 Last was one of two artists sent by the Ministry of Culture to mainland China as Artist in Residence at Nanking Normal University. She has since been awarded Residencies at Banff Center for the Arts and twice at Hambidge Arts Center, Georgia, USA.
Last's paintings and design work have been featured on radio, television and in publications including Southern Living, USA, The Globe & Mail, Canadian House and Home, Toronto Life, Style at Home Magazine and The Toronto Star.
