This weekend workshop focuses on delving into the dualities of outward and inward looking. While personal expressiveness, style and method are explored; traditional methods of attaining painterly affects and skills that deepen the meaning and language of the finished artwork are discussed. Combined, the two push forward creative chance and meaningfulness. The Rice Lake setting allows for creative reflection and direct inspiration and observation of the environment and landscape.
You are encouraged to experiment.
We begin both mornings with a brief discussion about creative and practical matters followed by exercises and then painting a single large scale canvas over the 2 day period. Because this is a small group each participant works at their own level and pace and is given one on one, as well as group, feedback.
All levels are welcome including beginners.
Registrants will be sent a materials list which includes a canvas as large as you would like to work on.
Limit 10 participants

Presenting your art in an effective way is critical to getting the work out of the studio and in front of others.
This 4 session intensive workshop will cover topics related to presenting one’s artwork in a professional manner including; focusing, selecting and critiquing artwork, developing an effective Artist Statement and other relevant written support material necessary for a strong, cohesive package to submit to galleries.
We will look at the different types of galleries that exist and how to and not to approach them. If you would like to have your art critiqued bring 4 or 5 images on a USB stick for us to project and discuss. Between sessions you will have the opportunity to work on aspects of your own presentation for review.
