"Yesterday was a wonderful experience! You enabled me to push my boundaries even further. I had come to the Abstract Painting Workshop with the conscious intention of being blown out of my box. ... The abstract painting showed me the joy and exuberance I have in me. ...I couldn’t be more delighted! Thank you. "

Shared discussions and shared painting experiences are designed to assist you in developing characteristics that pull your work along and teach you as you develop them.
Experiment with Your Space in Painting learning from the Salon to the Contemporary; Caravaggio to Picasso Weekend Workshop July 29, 30 Sat, Sun 10 - 4:00
Playing with space in paint on a canvas is one of the pleasures of manipulating and surprising yourself and the viewer. The workshop looks at the different ways in which space has been created in paintings using technical approaches that range from the quiet vistas of early Renaissance to Caravaggio’s planned Baroque scenes to the flat and often fractured space of 20th century works. This understanding will free up your choices by understanding of how you can control the spacial components of your work and add to your technical ability to create unique yet harmonious work. Because groups are small participants receive individual feedback and may choose to work abstractly or from nature.
Develop Your unique Visual Vocabulary! 3 day July 10, 11, 12 Mon, Tues, Wed 9:30 - 1:30
This workshop focuses on developing what is unique in the way as well as what you choose to paint and to asssist you to develop your imagery further. We explore what you naturally tend towards in artmaking and use that to persue what is unique in your mark making and ultimately what might be referred to as your “style”. Abstraction on canvas facilitates ways of recognising and moving your visual vocabulary forward, both techniquly and expressively. Because groups are small each person works at their own level and pace. One to one discussions and feedback as well as group critiques will assist as you begin the process of finding and/or furthering your own mark-making and artistic interests.
